some joy, for a rainy, cold Friday
Oct. 14th, 2005 03:57 pmGood things in my life:
In no particular order:
- the anticipation of a new Kate Bush album
- my dog, Kai.
- my kitties, Spike and Drusilla
- Having a new, faster computer (and still having the skills to know how to assemble one)
- Pulling out the sweaters, jackets, and "warm" clothes
- Learning how to cook "low fat" and "healthy" foods and have them actually TASTE good (or at least not taste evil)
- Being in good health, having a roof over my head, and having a relatively boring psychodrama free life. As much as I might squeek about it, it's better than the opposite.
- My sweetie, Rich. He continues to amaze me at how much of a grownup he can be when it comes to dealing with reality - the realities of saving money, keeping a kitchen clean, talking out differences rather than being a passive aggressive nutjob, etc. In other words, he's just the right amount of grownup, sane, and caring. He's also great at being spontaneous, and keeping the "little kid" fun qualities alive in him. I think it's wonderful when we can have one of those "aw yeah! isn't that great?!" moments together over something like music, a movie, or anything else we happen to be sharing. It's also great to have someone say "I love you just as you are" and know he doesn't need me to lose 10 lbs. or change my hair color to suit some ideal he has.
- My job. I continue to get more responsibility, more challenges, and a bit more respect here and there. I actually like coming to work most days. My coworkers are, for the most part, a lot of fun and I get along with them and my boss pretty well. At this moment, my coworker C and I are cranking "She Blinded Me With Science" and driving the youngest of our team nutso. Sometimes it sucks something awful, but for the most part it's the most stable employment I've had in far too many years.
- My friends. Though we may be far away, though I may not get to see you or talk to you as much as I would like, I know you're there. Thank you for sticking with me through all the crap and all my insanity and thank you for not making me feel like there's something wrong with me.
